LEXINGTON, Mass., July 18, 2006 - Local officials and business leaders were on hand today at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome the newest addition to the area's dining scene, Max Stein's American, a 384-seat steakhouse restaurant that recently opened in late May on a nine-acre estate in historic Lexington.

In attendance at the ribbon-cutting were Jeanne Kreiger, Chairman of the Board of Selectman; Carl Valente, Town Manager; John Ott, Executive Director of the National Heritage Museum; Mary Jo Bohart, Executive Director of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce; and, the new owners of Max Stein's American including Martin A. Bloom, former founder and CEO of Vinny Testa's; Richard J. Brackett, former managing partner of The Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill; and Robert Hoffman, former president and co-owner of Classic Wine imports.

According to managing partner Richard Brackett, "No other restaurant in the Boston suburbs offers this type of quality dining experience." Max Stein's American draws its ethos from the "supper club" of the 1940s, a place of heartiness and elegance, of suave comfort and the guiltless enjoyment of pleasure. Max Stein's entrees feature the choicest cuts of beef including sirloin, filet mignon and Delmonico steak; fastidiously fresh seafood including Atlantic salmon and lobster Thermidor; and, mouth-watering fowl including crispy roast duck and herb marinated Cornish game hen.

Located at the site of the former Hartwell House, Max Stein's is viewed as an important ingredient in the retention and attraction of new businesses to the Hartwell Avenue business district, according to Mary Jo Bohart, Executive Director of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce. "We're thrilled to have a restaurant of the caliber able to cater to business lunches, dinners, and private functions", said Bohart. "It's one more piece to the puzzle toward making Lexington an attractive place to do business."
